The straw. It was invented in 1888, evolved into the bendy-straw in 1937, and has finally found its ultimate use. No, not as a makeshift snorkel, but as a talkbox for the Korg DS-10 .
Insane Japanese man, YouTube user, and lover of all things Korg, JetDaisuke, has figured out how to get extra funky with your DS. Simply cut two perpendicular lines at the bottom of the straw, tape it to one of the DS' speakers, and, well, put it in your mouth. The sound will travel down the straw and bounce around your mouth like it's a cave. Changing the shape of your mouth will change the tone that is produced.
For anyone who isn't familiar with the talkbox, not to be mistaken with a vocoder, it is most often used with the electric guitar. It looks like an normal effect pedal that sits on the floor but it's attached to a thick, flexible tube, which the guitarist places in his mouth. Freudian, I know. But once you finish giggling, check out the Frampton video below to see a real talkbox in action.
I wonder if a "crazy straw" would make even cooler sounds. Someone get me one, stat!
